Device code should be on a plastic card that came with your unit. Same size as a credit card.

If you can't find that, then go to the Change Preferences menu on your TomTom and work your way through to Show Version.

Actually the device code is a ten digit code. On your main screen touch the lower right hand corner of the screen-then touch where it says version. @ THE TOP OF THIS SCREEN IT SAYS DEVICE xxxxx xxxxx. This is it. When you enter the device code-do not put the space between the #s. I figured this out when I kept getting a devce code error. Enter it as XXXXXXXXXX!!
