Deleting Addresses

Connect the unit to your PC and use Windows Explorer to view the files and folders on the device, go to the North American Map folder or Western Europe map folder as applicable and open this folder. Locate the file "MapSettings.cfg" and delete it, the device will create a new file when it next boots up, you will have to reset any POI warnings and tell it where your Home is located but all the recent destinations will have gone - Mike

Thank you very much, it worked like a charm.

In another scenario, if you had a lot of addresses and wanted to delete just one or two, how would you go about it?

Seriously?

You would go to TomTom's headquarters, walk into the Developers area and give them all a smack in the head for not building the functionality of picking and choosing which recent destinations you wish to delete into all applications for all models.......

IOW, you can't........

It's all or nothing, sadly.

The unit only remembers the last 24 or 48 recent destinations (quantity depending upon device and software version), once the limit is reached it simply deletes the oldest entry to free up space for the new location - Mike

You could suggest this change to TomTom directly via Customer Support or simply hope TomTom read this thread.

Neither dhn or myself are in any way connected to TomTom in a professional capacity, we simply help out owners of GPS technology in our spare time with the odd snippet of advice - Mike
