Im not sure that this is posted in the correct forum but here goes. I am new to the navigation world. I wish to plan my own routes for motorcycle trips around scandinavia. I have searced and searched all over the internet after a way to create step by step waypoint navigation. but literally NO ONE seems to offer this. I have used the online Tomtom route planner, and it drives me COMPLETELY INSANE!!!!! To say the least! I wish to create MY OWN route with NO preferences or overrides by the system. WHY is this so impossible?
If there is an explanation for this i REALLY want to know, and perhaps you guys know the reason. Is there really no navigation service in the entire world that just lets me click on a map top follow an EXACT route, no changes, no fastest route, no thrills no nothing… just follw the clicked waypoints with NO interferrance.

The best (recent) solution for waypoints has always been *.ov2 file (POI files) for TomTom devices that support these files.
There are several 3rd party tools for creating these. Two that always come immediately to mind are

TYRE https://tyre2navigate.com/?lang=en
and
POIEdit https://poieditor.com/

The 550 allows for 5 different custom POI categories to be displayed on the device at the same time. You can build one big file as one big set of waypoints, or use several files for the waypoints for several different segments of a trip, for example - if that makes sense for your journey.

If you name them in this way
_01 My First Stop
_02 My Second Stop
etc
they're easily found in sort order, and you can select one after the other as your next 'destination' as you go about your journey.

Doing it this way allows the routing engine to get involved, working you around traffic situations, closed roads, etc. For such things as this, you really DO want the system to work, rather than using the 'breadcrumb' approach (the *.gpx track point method) that forces you to follow the route so exactly that it can make no sense when issues arise.

Ok. I tried setting up tyre, but i was so incredibly complicated i gave up.. Maybe the other alternative could be worth testing😀

Since you have a Rider, you might also want to investigate creating TomTom *.itn files with either of those tools. They are the moral equivalent of a *.gpx route style file, taking you from point to point in whatever fashion the device thinks best.

You might try Myrouteapp.com. It can export *.itn files. I've had mixed success getting those into my Rider 550. They have a subscription model, but there is a free version that allows basic route planning.
