GO 600
I have done my searching here, but am still confused. I want to connect my GO 600 to my PC. If I use the OEM USB cable do I still need the mount or can I plug directly into my GO? Where does the drop from 12V to 5V take place?

Can be plugged directly into the unit. The PC does not provide 12V. You will see proper cables showing something like 5V @ .5 A (up to 1.2A)

To clarify -- your GO 600 uses a standard 5V USB for power and charging. That's what your computer supplies when direct connected to your device (or to the dock, if you leave it attached). It's the cigarette lighter adapter that turns 12V into 5V in the vehicle.
