TomTom Model(s)
Rider 550
I've installed Windows 11 inside VirtualBox 7.2.4 on Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon. I've installed the 7.2.4 Extension pack on the host and in the Windows 11 client. I've installed TomTom MyDrive Connect. I cannot get the TomTom Rider 550 to show up as any USB device in Windows 11 VirtualBox. Does anyone know how to get this connection to work? My Rider 550 connects just fine in MyDrive Connect in a native Windows 11 installation. I just prefer not to reboot into Windows to work on my Rider 550. Virtual Box boots faster and is just another window on my Linux Mint desktop. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I do see NDIS Virtual Network Adapter Enumerator correctly installed under System devices in the Virtual Windows 11 Device Manager.

None of the newer devices show up as USB devices. As you noted, NDIS/RNDIS is where they appear in the Windows Device Manager. The TomTom MyDrive software for Windows is what provides the USB to TCP bridge code to connect the USB as a logical network device, and causes the NDIS driver to deal with the back end side of the data connection. So it sounds like you have the connection. MyDrive should recognize the 550 as 'one of its own' due to the USB VID/PID and make the connection for you when you tell MyDrive to 'add' the device. Can't say why it isn't.

@KevinBerry
For your information, the Rider 550 is Wi-Fi enabled, so you shouldn't even need to connect it to a computer via cable.

MyDrive should recognize the 550 ... Can't say why it isn't.
Windows virtual machines in my experience don't always work as well as native Windows installations. Most things do work. I suppose something in the USB to TCP bridge code is not handled by the virtual machine wrapper (yet). Maybe someday. For now, the native installation works fine when and if needed. Thank you.

Good point. If nobody has a quick easy solution, I think I will just uninstall MyDrive Connect in my virtual machine and not worry about plugging my Rider 550 into a virtual Windows computer and continue using WIFI when more convenient than booting natively into Windows. Hopefully TomTom will build a TomTom management interface that runs natively in Linux. I do always prefer managing devices from a larger desktop screen.

The Rider 550 is no longer even manufactured by TomTom.

I doubt TomTom will develop a management interface compatible with Linux.

As you said, WIFI works fine. Thank you.
On the WiFi connected devices like the 550, the only real benefit to the hardwired connection is the ability to manage voices. Pretty much everything else can be handled over the WiFi connection.

You can do a lot of things via Wi-Fi, however what I don't understand is why you can't do it for voices?

That's a really good question, Willy. Why did they leave out that one 'content' feature?
