Was watching Good Morning America the other day and they did a test driving across LA using a $89 TomTom vs. and much more expensive Garmin with real time traffic. The car with the TomTom arrived 20 minutes sooner! This kind of fits with my general impression going from a simpler GPS to a TomTom GO620. While hearing the street names is nice, I am not sure that it has much practical value. The traffic function only seems to be used in major cities here in Ontario, and I am not sure how well IQ Routes actually works. So best buy for the buck IMO is the $89 unit, and buy a new one in 2 years rather than pay for the map update.
