Charging up and how long will it last?

Hello again all,
Recently puchased a Tom-Tom VIA1505M GPS and they say in the start-up instructions that you should initially charge it for 2 hours. I wonder after that initial charge, will the GPS function longer than the 2 hours without any otehr power source or must one constantly have it plugged into the 12 volt cigarette hole for trips and such?

When new, a device may offer about 2 hours of charge time. But, over time, that length diminishes. There are battery savings settings that help somewhat but the bottom line is that the device really should be used in conjunction with the car charger.
