CARMINAT SD CARD

Hi Guys,

I've bought a 2012 Renault menage that unfortunately came missing the SD card from it TomTom Carminat, so I call TT support and according to the support person any TomTom SD would work in my TT Carminat, so I inserted the SD card (that's I'm guessing contain Maps!?) from my TT Go720 in TT Carminat but nothing happened!?
so, I'm doing something wrong, or would any TT SD card with Maps work?

Good grief. You did get some pretty vague and unhelpful advice from tech support.

What they did NOT tell you is that the SD card needs to have not just a map but a bootable system on it. I doubt that your 720 was set up that way unless the internal memory had gone bust and you'd had to work around that by loading one to your SD card. Your 720 will preferentially boot from a system on SD if it finds one, but as noted -- not a common arrangement to begin with. I'm also very surprised that they suggested that you could use 'just any old map' with your device. Maps are keyed to the device serial number to prevent piracy.

Honestly -- I'd call back and try to find someone with a bit more knowledge of the Carminat system who can sort a card for you.
