Can anyone tell me how to download caravan and camping sites onto my Tomtom Via 52 satnav and if I do this would it use up all the memory on my satnav. UK sites would be okay for now but I would like to update European sites eventually. This is a new Tomtom which we haven't had experience with before as our old one packed in.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Since it is new , on danger that I mention redundant matter, let's start with step one.
[I do not have a device with an operation system exactly like yours. If you follow a step and do not get the result as suggested, please take a note of it and post what happened.]

I presume you used Home2 to connect your previous device to the PC.
Please download and install MyDrive Connect https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/mydrive-connect/
Go to the middle / bottom of page and select the PC with which you will connect.
Install it, open it and use the same eMail address and password you use for the Start 52.
[I trust you have used a different one from you previous device. If not, call Customer Support and have that corrected as map updates are locked in with your serial number and device name (eMail address).]
The MyDive Connect window will open and show the name of your device. Underneath will be a yellow exclamation mark and it will say Not Connected. Also, it will display what updates are available and the expiry of services, if purchased.

Now, plug in your device. It will now say View updates (if updates are offered), accept them and install them.
At the top, next to My Device is says My Content. Click it and you will see the size of your internal storage and its free space
as well as that info for a (micro) SD card, if installed. [Recommend to get a 16GB or 32GB card (difference is little and maps are getting bigger).]

Since your device is ready to accept POI categories install https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/ on your PC. Accept when it asks for location since all your planning will be from current location.
On the left, click the 3rd icon from the top and again log in with your user name and password.
Click on it again and under the heading of Favourites you will see all the My Place locations you have on your device, not including Recent Destination or Marked Location.

Good luck.

Finally, click POI FILES and at the bottom of the page you will see IMPORT POI FILE.
Click on it and your PC File Finder will open for you to select the .ov2 file with your POIs.

Yes, a note about that very last step, since it is critical if the owner isn't a prior TomTom owner.
TomTom POI files must be constructed in *.ov2 file format. Some sites provide POI files in several formats, so if you are getting yours from a 3rd party, make sure it's an *.ov2 fie and not something else.

It is good that you mention that for anyone reading.

In this particular instance I took it for granted that Kevin or Kath wanted to install their old ov2s.
This is a new Tomtom [ ... ] as our old one packed in.

Just in case you want to try them out after installing, please note

Once installed on the MyDrive web page, your categories will display without the ov2 extension at the bottom of your My Places list on the device, with a triple white outline location marker instead of a penta star.

A maximum of 5 categories an be displayed at any time on the device.
To display POIs on the map go Menu > Settings > Appearance > Show POI lists on map > the list of all your categories will be displayed with the triple markers to the left and the word Hide in the right margin.
Tap 'Hide' of the category you want shown and a page with 5 icon options is displayed. Note that it says a restart is required (depress On button until the drum roll is heard) although on my device it take effect immediately.
