Car charging help please!

Hi,

I have 2 TomTom sat navs, a TomTom One 3rd edition and a TomTom One IQ Routes edition. I have a car charger for both, and a car charger to USB adapter which I use most.

Long and short of it, the 3rd edition will not charge in the car using either car charger or USB adapter. If I use the same USB-MiniUSB cable that I use in the car to charge at home from the mains, the 3rd edition charges fine.

The IQ Routes one will charge in the car with any of the chargers, USB lead and at home, so I know there's no problem with the chargers, but I can't understand why the 3rd edition won't charge in the car?

Thanks

I'm surprised that the car charger to USB lead works. I was considering something like that. My ccar charger for my 930 outputs 5V 2A. The car charger to USB I looked at (Kensington) outputs 5V .75A. Seemed like it would not power the unit and charge the battery.

To be honest, standard USB on a computer works to charge fine, that is only 5V 500mA (.500A) max. I think the one I got was actually a Belkin iPod car charger unit thing...having just looked, it's very similar to this, I think mine is just an older model.
