Ca n you download android apps or can you used apk,s to install a file?
 
Only on the TomTom 'Bridge' devices can a side-load *.apk be loaded to provide apps other than what comes with the device.

And I see that you have an 8270. I have had good success with my unit in doing what you describe, yes. One of the first things I loaded was a good file manager!
