TomTom Model(s)
truck6000
I have a trucker 6000, and a tom tom rider 420.
Can I buy a caravan and camper map ( I tow a caravan with a car ) from Tom Tom or other source install on a micro sd card place in either device, is this possible??
Or is there another way without buying another device?
T.I.A.

The bugger of it all is that those maps really are compatible with the hardware, but the firmware that makes a Trucker 6000 a 'trucker' prevents using anything but the truck type maps. Same for the Rider, whose bike oriented firmware with its own additional and different features won't run camper maps.

Ok cheers,
My rider one has a car option with a in car mount as well, would that be compatible?

Speaking of the trucker 6000 I updated it last night and now when it starts it’s stuck on the choose a voice page and even though it’s plugged in to the truck it states low battery and shuts down? Very annoying

Vérifiez votre câble, vérifiez également votre chargeur allume-cigare si le câble et le chargeur allume-cigare fonctionnent bien
Changer la batterie

Sounds like you have a charging problem in the truck. I assume you're using the cigarette lighter adapter and not trying to use a USB port in the truck? Those USB ports often don't deliver enough power for a TomTom.

To help isolate the problem, stick it on a mains charger in the house and see if that does the trick. If so, we'll have to investigate the truck charging. If not, the battery in your 6000 might be getting tired.

Playing up all day.
I think it’s the update as it’s fully charged on the screen and yet it shuts down and then starts up from shut down menu. I’ll plug it in tomorrow night and see if I can rectify the problem

No reason the latest firmware update should cause your battery to be depleted quickly and not charge properly. I'm guessing that the update was just the change to the Bluetooth connection messaging.

I’ve found the problem!
It’s the magnetic mount as soon as I attach it it dies, plug into the unit itself and it stays on. I’ll try and order a mount from Tom Tom or eBay. Thanks for the input 😊

So attaching the device to the mount kills it? Sounds like the mount is shorting across the power pins rather than supplying power! I wonder whether you've still got a fuse in your cig adapter now, too? That same short could have taken out the fuse on the supply side. Or are you saying that plugging the cig adapter cord into the device works OK?

Yes correct direct from the 12 v or usb keeps the unit powered. I gather there’s no connection when fastened to the magnetic mount? I’ve ordered an original so hopefully that will solve the problem?
