TomTom GO Navigation works optimally when onboard maps are stored on internal system memory and recommend not storing maps on SD Cards. If you'd like to proceed with storing maps on an external SD card please follow these instructions:

1. Before the first run ensure that there is more free space on external SD card than on phone. Double-check that the SD card is recognized by OS (E.g. visible in My files app).

2. Do not use SD card as adoptable storage , this app will store files on SD card in portable mode

3. Some phones when app is uninstalled do not remove application files from external SD card ([sdcardpath]/Android/data/com.tomtom...../). This may lead to problems with access when app is reinstalled so make sure your SD card is free of leftovers.

TomTom is working on supporting adoptable storage for map storage.

SD cards formatted as internal storage

From version 2.3, we have added support for SD cards that are formatted as internal storage. This means:

· When the SD card is formatted as internal storage (adoptable storage), the user can now have the app located on the SD card)

· When the SD card is formatted as portable storage, the user can now move some of the internal files to the SD card

I used TomTom Go Navigation v1.9.6.1 on an old ZTE ZMax One Z719DL, Android v7.11, with an SD Card formatted as internal storage for quite a while and when I moved it to the SD Card it worked just fine. However when I tried TomTom Navigation v3.4.21 on a Blu View 3 B140DL, Android v11, after moving it to the SD Card formatted as internal storage it would not work at all. I had to move it back to the internal card for it to work again. Out of curiosity, I tried installing the old TomTom Go Navigation v1.9.6.1 on the Blu View 3 just to see if it would work and it would not allow that App to even be installed. Does anyone have any idea of what's happening here?

Normally the old version of Tomtom GO is no longer followed by Tomtom you must install the new version
With the recent changes to the latest versions of Android 11, it is no longer possible to install the maps on the SD card.
