try using TRIPMASTER..... Set it to use POI as the format..... Change the settings for every 30-60 seconds, 45 deg , or 1/4 mile.....



It will leave a trail of ??? marks.......maybe you could even make a custom icon that looks like a piece of bread in place of the ? marks???

I have not used it, but I think OFFROAD NAVIGATOR, serves a simillar purpose?

TripMaster is what you want. Offroad is just a giant compass. Tripmaster actually logs data to be exported to GE if you wanted to.

The setting I like is using the saved ouput format as gpx and then use this site and draws the trail on a map for you - http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/

Thats a great idea too, however I was under the impression he wanted something in realtime to see his way back.....(the idea of leaving a trail of breadcrumbs when venturing out)
