TomTom Model(s)
Go Discover 6
I have Go Discover 6 but it wont connect to my iphone bluetooth. I have the latest firmware on both devices.

I have tried all the steps in the FAQ about forgetting the device and reconnecting. I get the pair notification on my phone, I click Pair. It connects for like 1 second, and then the TomTom gives the same error message about cannot connect.

Can someone please help

Thanks

Are you trying to connect the iPhone MyDrive app to your Discover, or use your iPhone for traffic/data directly by using Bluetooth tethering?
If you aren't using the iPhone app for some reason, we have found that the sometimes balky Bluetooth connection is easier done by WiFi tethering with the phone.

Hi, thanks. I tried both. Neither work consistently. The My Drive app sometimes works othertimes not. But the main use would be for traffic data. This seems to be a common issue? I have seen posts online with people with the same problem but no solution.

With wi-fi tethering, would that mean connecting to my iphone data hotspot? Would that achieve the same as bluetooth?

Try this

CANCEL PREVIOUS BLUETOOTH PAIRINGS

TURN OFF WIFI

TURN ON BLUETOOTH

TURN ON HOTSPOT

SELECT BLUETOOTH AND USB ONLY

WAIT FOR HOT SPOT TO CONNECT

TAKES A MINUTE TO CONNECT TO HOTSPOT

MY IPHONE SE SHOWS A BLUE BAR ON TOP OF IT’S SCREEN WHEN CONNECTION IS MADE

IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER MINUTE FOR THE TRAFFIC TO SHOW

I have 3 GO620s and a GO520. These procedure works flawlessly on all four devices.

Hopefully this will work for you.

If all you want is traffic data, you don't need to use the app at all. You can connect your device directly to TomTom's traffic server by enabling tethering/hotspot on your phone and connecting to that. Your iPhone likely supports both Bluetooth and WiFi for this purpose, but I've found the WiFi to be far more reliable (ever since iOS 11!).

wow, this worked !! Thank you so much. I would never have solved this on my own.

I wonder why TomTom have not fixed this issue with it being so widespread.

Glad that this worked.
