auto off - what if you downgrade software or remove battery

I am using a 3rd edition tomtom. I was wondering if installing or trying to install USA_and_Canada_v.675.1409 would help with either the auto on or off feature? ??

would downgrading to any version be of use?

My understanding is that the 'auto on' feature was removed from TomTom units some time ago with a firmware change. The map version wouldn't have had anything to do with it.

I echo dhn's comment. The 3rd edition actually never had an auto on/off feature.
