Apple Car Play TomTom Go App Slow to load

When I start the TomTom Go app in Apple Car Play it takes a long time a few minutes before the display loads and I can select a destination. Other navigation appsApple maps & Google maps load instantly. Is there a solution to get the app to load quicker thanks.
 
I see sometimes also in Android Auto. A restart of the app on your smartphone or switch between other navigation apps in Android Auto can solve this.
 
Thanks it’s been slow loading again today. The other navigation apps load instantly. I’ll try and switch between apps. I’ve only just re subscribed to mobile app. I’ve used Sygic recently and that loaded instantly. Always liked TomTom better when it works properly.
 
Yes, sometimes the TomTom GO app opens instantly in CarPlay, and sometimes it is slow. It is a bit of a nuisance, but if you open the app on your phone first, it will be open and ready in CarPlay.

And if you are using one of your My Routes, you have to open the app and select the route on your phone first, because My Routes can't be selected on the CarPlay screen, only My Places can be.

yes, how daft is that - frustating to have to disconnect AA if you want to swap pre-planned routes....
 
Thanks great advice hadn’t thought of opening the app on the phone first.
 
@vjkld Try these steps and check: Close/ Kill the app, and check for the updates for your phone, and CarPlay. Remove the app from CarPlay, and delete the CarPlay from the phone Bluetooth list. Restart the phone and built-in system. Try it again. Let us know how it works.

I’ve followed the steps above and reconnected the phone to CarPlay. It hasn’t had a problem loading and the issue is solved thanks. Will try again tomorrow hopefully fixed.
 
@vjkld Yes! Please monitor the consistency of the app's behaviour on CarPlay. Waiting for an outcome.

You must request this improvement directly from Tomtom support.

The Car Play app has worked well this week no problem loading since reconnecting to the car. It has always been slower to load though than Sygic or Apple Maps. The map view and directions are better on TomTom. Average speeds going through the speed cameras is very useful.
