add/delete maps

I have a tomtom but it will only hold one map at a time.I currently have a usa map on it but want to remove that temporarily to put the europe map back on.Does this take as long as it did to download in the first place or is it much simpler?

It depends upon the model. Some are only usb 1.1 compliant so read/writes are slow.

BUT, if you are moving one map to the computer, not only copy the specific map folder but also copy the maps folder which contains the tlv file for the map on the unit.
