930 Maps/Firmware on a 920

Hi guys,
I am new here, and I don't know if this has been covered. I have heard that you can download the 930 maps/firmware from TomTom into a 920 and get the new IQ Routing and smart lane displays to work. What if I had a 930 at my disposal? Could I just copy the contents of that device onto my 920? Is that a big no-no? Just a curious question from a relative newbie.

You can't copy the contents .... especially the map as it is locked to a specific device. The current firmware, flakey that it is, is 8.3 and is the same for both models. With that loaded and with v8 maps, you essentially turn a 920 into a 930 in terms of functionality, including ALG and IQ routing for your v8 NA map.
