730 backlight not working

Not sure, but the fact the backlight flickers sometimes when you shake it or give it a knock kind of tells me the brightness setting isnt the problem.
 
Well, it does seem hardware related then. A loose connector? Supermods mikealder or canderson are experts at this sort of stuff. Look for either or both to make an appearance in this thread.
 
Most probably either the BackLight Inverter or the backlight itself, to fix this you really need a new front screen portion as that contains everything you need - Mike
 
Take a gamble on something like This and swap the screen portion over, there are two torx screws in the rear of the device and a couple of electrical connectors to undo - Mike
