TomTom Model(s)

FWIW
A German poster with a TomTom One reports that when he went on
HOME 2.4.0.104 this morning he got updated to 7.900 .

Another one got 7901.9181 for the Rider & Rider 2nd Ed

A third one installed it on his GO 700.

Maybe that is to which the source for this post was alluding.

Hmmm...sounds interesting. Did you note any changes/differences?

I shall plug in my Rider2 tonight and see what happens and advise on any changes I notice.

Cheers!

Thanks for the heads up, I just downloaded v7.900 into my ONE v2. First thing I noticed was my color schemes looked weird. That corrected once I reset them. Then, I noticed that the password had been cleared. I went back into HOME, and reset that too. I'll post more as I notice it!

Downloaded the new application, 7.901 tonight on my Rider2. I really dont see any differences, and I went thru all functions to check.

Although when I went to "operate my rider", it asked to download an emulator, which it did. Now "operate my rider" doesnt work......

Perhaps it is in preparation for new maps, etc?

Cheers

I read somewhere else that this will enable the 8 series maps, but we'll never get version 8 Navcore. I also read that the new maps in 2009 will be the first to incorporate mapshare corrections. It may be worth it to hold on on a new map until then.

I currently have a 715 map on my R2, and will wait at least until spring when the riding season begins again before I think of upgrading my map.

The latest map at this moment for the Rider2 is the 725. For Canada, it really is no improvement over the 715, so I will wait and see what comes down the pike.

cheers

I updated my Rider2 today as well. I notices I was still on 667 maps. I may wait until the next set of maps come out and just do that upgrade.

The bike is packed away (maybe one more trip, but I don't know) winter set in this week in NE Ohio.:( only about 7 more months to riding season...

Correct Favorites lost, see other posts where you have to edit your old one with PoiEdit2007-2-ENU from pocketgpsworld & save it as _FAV.ov2 Point Of Interst file, navigate to each POI then save last recent destination as Favorite ! - What a job.

POI Audible warnings turned off - can easily be activated again.

Otherwise 7.9 seems to work really well with audible instructions making more sence - there's one bit I travel which always said stay in the Left Lane shortly followed by Turn Right - Which is now FIXED - it seems. Let me drive a few more times to be 100% a believer ......, seems to also advise earlier of a turn.
So Yes it's a PIA but I am much more happy with it - even with the "favorites debarcle"
Cheers !:D

I discovered today that my Rider2 is using some gravel roads in calculating my destinations!

geez, does TT not actually test these updates?

I have now reinstalled the 7.541 and my "operate your Rider" function works again on HOME.

Cheers

Of course not! That's where we come in!
I will say this, I don't know if it's a new feature or not, but I like the route summary screen automatically closing after 10 seconds. It was annoying to always hit done on that screen when I didn't really need to look at it after the route was calculated.

The closing of the route summary screen after 10 seconds was an option in version 7.162. Is this now the default? Seems to be the most logical default.

I updated my 510 to 7.9 last week. One negative, as already mentioned, is that you lose your favorites(at least on my 510). You can not use a saved mapseetings.cfg file either. When you drag it into the root is is automatically overwritten. One firmware differance I noticed is that the TT poi icons are changed. they are all now blck and white. Gone is the green church for "Places of Worship". You now have a blck and white icon of a candle. Talk about going backwards. Instead of adding more colorful poi icons, they make them black and white. There are also a few new poi categories which I did not have-ie: tourisy information, tourist attractions and rest area-as well as a few others.

This may sound like a silly suggestion but it has been successful when I merged custom POIs into a TT supplied ov2 file:
Open the old mapseetings.cfg, highlight everything, open the new mapseetings.cfg. highlight everything and paste and save.
There is a 50/50 chance that it may not work.

I thought it was to save space and tested by changing a 107 KB JPG to a 1,655 BMP. That changed to 2 colours for a size of 70 KB

Although that is an impressive reduction, checking my BMPs in the map folder, only a few are 2 KB, most are 1 KB only.

Shoot, I never knew that was an option! I don't think it's the default, I changed it to do so. I agree, it should be the default setting.

Hmm, I updated my Rider 2 and didn't lose my favorites. Could it be the map that you have installed? I'm still on 6.67
