510 Freezes on Browse Map

Hello. My new TomTom 510 consistently freezes and then reboots itself after dragging around the Map for a few seconds. The unit comes back on but acts as if it's starting for the first time (have to go through the setup and customization all over again).

It is using the latest firmware and update downloaded via TomTom HOME. Anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure if this will help but try searching for the clear flash tool on the TT support page.

Have you tried a soft reset?

Thanks for the suggestion, while my map still freezes when attempting to drag it around on the TomTom unit, the flash tool actually fixed a different issue of always having to enter in the passcode into my phone when connecting via bluetooth.

How about resetting the unit, did that help at all?

Is your SD card at max?
Do you have any POIs enabled that may slow down your unit?

My SD card isn't at max, but I do have some extra POI's downloaded (the Retail and D&D downloads). I've noticed twice that it froze when I was attempting to drag down towards NYC which obviously has tons of POI! I'll remove those and see what happens.

Freezing

I had the same problem and I called tom tom support and they said there were some maps shipped out on some 510 units that were faulty (if you will) so they added a new map to my account and I downloaded it and BOOM worked perfect! Try calling them and see what they do....Hope this helps
