I have a TT 1535 TM with a 4GB micro card installed. I noticed after downloading the newest US CANADA and MEXICO map version V945.6254 that the following memory is left on my device.

Device 463 MB USED........................3254 MB Free

Memory Card 3715 MB USED............3 MB Free

With the above information, should I change my now 4 GB memory card to a 8 GB memory card? If I have to go up to a 8 GB SD, how do I transfer the info from the existing 4GB to the new 8 GB SD.
If not, will any excess information be loaded to the 3254 space on the device? I would appreciate guidance in regards to this situation as to what to do.

I think you should get an 8 (or even 16) gb micro sdhc card. I'm frankly surprised you got the complete 945 map onto the 4 gb card.

With the (let's say) 8 gb card installed and formatted in Tomtom's own method, you should be able to re-download the 945 map onto the card (MyDrive will install the map where it sees the most available free space).

I bought a new 16GB SDHC. Could you possibly give me the procedure for transferring the info from the 4GB SDHC to the 16GB SDHC. I don' want to screw up so I would really appreciate your guidance.

Thanks!!!!

Put the card in the PC card reader and Format is as FAT32.

Remove the 4GB card from the device, insert the 16GB card, switch on the device and let the device format it.
It will ask if you want it formatted.
Connect your device to the PC, open MyDrive Connect. The pop up will say a number of items available. Let it open MyDrive and click My Content.
Now, at the bottom it should show Memory Card ~16000 MB free.
Now click Overview and it should show updates available.
Look at what is offered and if more than the 945 map, uncheck all others and download/install the map only.
After that is completed successfully, go back an install other items, if offered.
It is a good habit never to let several updates be installed simultaneously.

Thanks for the install info. I have a Mac Book Pro with a built in card reader. Because it's a Mac is the install the same?
Also, do I have to format the new card and if so how?

Thanks to all for the info!

When you install the card, it will appear as another storage device in the list. Format it as though it was just another disk drive, but specifically using the FAT32 format style.
Truth to tell, the uSD card will probably come formatted in FAT32 already.

Pop it into your TomTom, REBOOT your TomTom (so that it looks for the card at boot), and as should have happened with your first 4GB card, the TomTom will perform just a little formatting magic of its own.
Once connected to MyDrive, MyDrive will discover that there's no map to be seen anywhere either on your device or the uSD card, and will offer to install one.
Actually, if you enabled the caching of large files in MyDrive's configuration, it won't even need to be downloaded again since it will still reside on your Mac in the cache.

Bloody, 'ell! Your Avatar don't look like nothing of Portage & Main!
No, it's actually taken from the lookout at the top of Diamond Head Crater in Oahu Hawaii. Wish I was still there!
Thanks to all the posts in regards to the above situation. My TT 1535 TM has a mind of it's own so a combination of all the above posts helped in a successful transfer of the maps from the 4GB SDHC to the 16GB SDHC.

Thanks again to all :):)

Glad you got it sorted.

BTW, did you ever make a Mapshare report about Wihuri Rd.?

No, I retired from CFB 17 Wing Air Force Base about a year ago as a civilian electrician. The air force base changed the street Whytewold Rd. halfway down at Silver Avenue so Whytewold Rd. at Silver Ave. changes to Wihuri Rd. going north and remains Whytewold Rd. going south. Very confusing.
I'll look into Mapshare report about this matter.

Aloha

Thanks for the email link, I'll look into it.
Have to go to the cell phone store now. My older iPhone 4 accidentally fell in the toilet. Oh! Oh!
I was waiting to get a newer phone but this sped up the process of getting a newer iPhone. Going for a 5S because too many people I know have the iPhone 6 ....too many problems.

Thanks again to everyone !!!!
