Also, this was mentioned in the other thread, but make sure you disable the "link volume to car speed" option!
If you leave it enabled:
Volume will be pretty low in most situations
You won't get any instructions on the highway because it will increase the volume past the "broken" threshold...
Possibility 1) (I can't confirm this) - Most software licenses contain clauses regarding reverse engineering. 90% certain MapSource's license has this (it's pretty much boilerplate). I would not be surprised at all if the maps themselves have similar licensing clauses.
Possibility 2) Some...
Turning off a bunch of POI types didn't help much at all.
However, I've noticed when trying volume changes that I'd hear TTS when at "low" volumes but silence at 100% - I should play with this more, I wonder if maybe on my unit "low volume above 90" is "silent above 90 in most cases".
My point is that the IMG format is 100% proprietary. The only reason third party map sources exist for it is that Garmin has not changed the format significantly since its creation over a decade ago, permitting it to be reverse engineered. Garmin has not done anything to enable third-party...
Garmin has only supported custom maps on a limited subset of their trail-oriented devices (such as my Oregon 300) for less than a year.

As I have only owned my device for a few days, I thought I had just missed those features the first time around. Thanks!
Has anyone noticed that TTS has become EXTREMELY unreliable since the 9.150 update? It was rock solid when I first bought my unit, since updating I often only get the...
I'm fairly certain your unit was broken and it was simple coincidence it happened at the same time as you did the menu tweak. (Possibly you might have damaged the USB connector? Due to that ridiculous recess of the connector, damaging it would be easy.)
Traffic works fine on my XL 350T even...
