XL: waiting for a valid GPS signal

Suddenly during a trip my XL lost GPS signal and hasn't recovered since. (NB it happened in an open space and device was and has since properly positioned to get signal.
I reset the device to default but at no prevail.

What could be the problem and how to resolve?

If by resetting to 'default' you selected 'restore to factory defaults', that won't help.

Try resetting the unit by holding the power button for about 10 seconds till you hear the drum rolls sound (I don't think your model has a dedicated reset hole).
