TomTom Model(s)
Start20
System - W7 ultimate 32 bit, pc, 4GB ram
New Start 20, been trying for hours to get pc to recognise it.
D/L the Tomtom start-up pack - plugged in TomTom, W7 said device not recognised.
Tried various places for a driver - W& finally found one,
Have uninstalled and reinstalled the startup pack twice, also reset Start20 to factory settings - all to no avail. Read somewhere that the device SHOULD offer to connect to the pc, but that message has never displayed on my satnav.
Windows driver is said to be 6.0.6000.16384 dated 21.4.2009 - device is reported as "working properly" No it's not.

Not a happy bunny! My previous (Garmin) satnav gave no problems but is lost - bought this as replacement, purely because of lifetime maps. To benefit from that, device needs to access TomTom site!

No idea what you downloaded, but you should not have any separate downloadable drivers installed. Best to start by uninstalling that one.
Your correct 'driver' is part of the MyDrive installation package. It includes 'bridge' software that converts your USB connection to TCP such that your device should appear as a network card on your PC.

Since you have not anywhere mentioned MyDrive, I don't know for certain what you mean by "Tomtom start-up pack". Here is where you should be aimed >>> https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/mytomtom/getstarted/deviceselector.jsp and select the "Download MyDrive Connect" and install it. If you've already done that, or have issues after doing so, let us know.

Thanks! there's two options on that screen, I obviously chose the wrong one!
The original issue is resolved - device is now installed, recognised and updated.

All I now need to know is how to utilise it (can't find a "settings" menu on the Start20 device, to set voice, volume, etc) nor a manual.

Thanks again!

Again, thanks. In the meantime I Googled for it.
Spent the last hour or so setting up. Slight frustration in that it appears to cover all models rather than my specific one, but hey! at least that's progress!

Appreciate your help, though.
