Power cord for GO740 Live

Ok, so I used the included power cord to semi-hardwire my 740 into DC power. Now my backup GPS is dead and I have a trip to Bethesda...new territory.

Can I use a regular USB power cable with the 740 mount if I don't mind sacrificing RDS traffic?

Yes.
Any reasonable quality USB to mini-USB lead should work fine with the TomTom accessory USB cigarette lighter adapter.

A USB power supply for another device (such as a phone) should power the TomTom OK, but will not charge the battery very fast or well.

I have a 5vdc 2A USB port charger for my tablet. Hoepfully that should work.

That should be absolutely fine. TT chargers used to be rated at 2 Amps, but the recent ones are not as pokey.
