    Hello Folks
    Since it appears neither NA continent or does the NA map contain
    Central America and the Carib and every thing in the NA continent but Mexico?

    Is one set more detailed or updated more frequently?
    I know the NA maps are generally larger.

    I have also heard of 2 different sized versions of each these
    something about additional voice related features??

    Anyone have some clear and simple info on this?
    I'm l a new kid in town but confused about what should be
    Standard TT info?

    While Mexico and Canada would be useful my main use and need would
    be for accurate continental USA info.
    Specifically the the 7.1**** and 6.75 maps

    Thanks in advance
    I hope my question doesn't offend anyones nationality?
    KJ

    North Amerixa vs USA and Canada maps ??

    Sorry for my really bad editing
    First paragraph should have read

    Since it appears neither the NA or USA and Canada Maps contain Mexico
    What is actually included in each map? Central America, Carib, etc.

    Is one set more detailed or updated more frequently?
    I know the NA maps are generally larger.

    Thanks
    KJ

    Both maps contain the same area: US, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico.
    Sorry no current plans for Mexico.

    But why is the NA map so much larger?
    newer data? more detail? sound and voice related?
    which should one buy and why?

    Thanks Again

    The x20 models are capable of voice recognition. They require cspeech.dat files for each state and Canada to work properly for all of the States and Canada. In total, they make up many hundreds of megs. Further, the NA is more detailed in terms of rendering things like waterways, etc. The poi's provided in the NA map are more comprehensive, I think.

    So.....if you don't have one of those models, you have no use for the .dat files and will probably be satified with the USA & Canada map.

    The North America map version 710.1609 contains:
    Fully Detailed Map Covering

    * All American States
    * Canadian Provinces
    * Hawaii
    * Alaska
    * Puerto Rico
    Street Network Coverage: 99%

    Whereas: US and Canada is much smaller in size and do not cover the above areas.
    If I'm remembering right the Us and Canada map is version 6.65

    The absolute latest versions are:
    USA and Canada is 710.1575
    North America TT920 is 710.1609
    North America TT720 is 710.1584

    The NA maps has slightly more detail in terrain (waterways, building shading, but only a few changes in roads). It also has (on the 920 version) a much larger POI database, with branded icons (for different companies). The NA map also has 400mb or so of voice recognition files, which does not come in the USA and Canada map.

    Both maps cover the exact same areas. So disregard joeneal's post, as it is incorrect.

    Yes it was, but the other guy was quoting misinformation. So I was sort of backing you up, without saying I was backing you up... ;)
