GO 910
Hi Folks,

While I have been using a GO910 for quite some time with virtually no problems.

I received today a GO750 Live TRUCK which I set about configuring ready for use and hit a wee 'problem'!

Using the same TT Home 2 on a Win7 Laptop, I can run the GO910 (Using different Log In 'credentials' as required by TomTom HQ) but when I hook up my GO750 Live, TT Home 2 opens up and logs in OK and even offered a number of files to update the GO750, but I don't currently have enough space in the memory (8GB Micro Class 10, SD Card has been ordered but not arrived yet.

So I skip the Update part and go to 'Operate my device' and I get a message that tells me......
TTGO-750.JPG

Is this a common problem and do I have to wait for TomTom HQ to provide a 'New File' to resolve this issue or is there another solution?

I also wondered it like my GO910 there is some where or some way to see what sort of condition the Battery is in as I cannot find anything that will display this?
All I can find is a Low Battery facility that can be activated.

Thanks

What is the wording for "and even offered a number of files to update the GO750"?
Those may be critical files that need to be downloaded before an upgrade can proceed.

That happened with my 930 when I was forced to upgrade from 8.302 to 9.410 (?) via 8.531.
Each time Home ask to install "a small file".
Without that it would not let me download the paid for next quarterly map installment.

This happened May/June 2012 and there are detailed posts somewhere in TTF.

As I recall, the emulator for Home was never updated to properly manage Truck models. Either that, or they produced a separate version that none of us ever saw.
This is one of those instances where a call to tech support could prove a real challenge. They tend NOT to be very familiar with the fleet models at all. However, might be worth a go to see if anyone there is aware of the requisite emulator code, and whether it can be supplied.

Arno....
The files to 'Update' the GPS could be downloaded and installed that was not the 'problem' however none of them were 'critical' while I would have hoped that TT Support had possibly got their act together between 2012 and now!

canderson......
I will send the email to TT Support as I was going to when the 'problem' occurred but then I was given the 'link' asking me to 'Read this response' which basically told me to keep trying over a couple of days as TT Home needed to download and install a file to allow this GPS to interface correctly for the 'Operate my device' facility.

I will let you know their reply.....

I didn't need the reply from TT Support as it turns out that the device I thought was a TRUCK version is in fact a Standard GO750 Live that had been 'fitted' with the TRUCK version NC.

As a result the correct NC was installed along with the original map which is NON TRUCK so now TT Home and 'Operate my GO' now work correctly.

You are welcome.

Sadly this 'exercise' has now left me with a NC that has gone backwards from 9.702 to 9.510, and a Map that went from 940.5999 to 835.2448, as well as a GPS that I think because of the NC will now not boot up when plugged in to either car or laptop.

Hey ho there goes another day in Paradise!

Having sent the 'seller' a message via eBay I then wanted to 'Open a case' with eBay, however when I tried I was told by their online system that I was 'TOO LATE' which was total 'BS' as the transaction was only 5 Days old from the payment date!

It then took some time to finally get in touch directly with the eBay Customer Services and in speaking with their representative he could not understand why the system would not let me open a case, so he did it for me and now the seller has 9 days to respond.

Hi Arno!
Well there is no hanging around on this one!

Seller responded via eBay today, asking for return of item and a full refund would be made after receipt, so item put back in the condition/illegal configuration it was received in.
It was then parceled up and shipped off with 48 hour Tracked Delivery.

I then contacted TomTom with a view to getting a Genuine model except that with a New Model on imminent release they have no stock of any GPS units that can be configured for Truck/Bus/Taxi/Camper/Caravan/Car use!

So for our next trip I have called in the 'Rear Guard' in the form of my old but very trustworthy GO910 which I still think was probably the best GPS that has come out of the factory!

Cheers!

Congratulations. Perseverance paid off.

I do take issue with the 910 being the best. It is undoubtedly the 930, what with the Bluetooth remote control and all!
;->)

Call again and ask them for a live body who understands what their 'Bridge' models are all about. If that word stumps them, refer them to this web page >>> http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/bridge/

Understand, I have no clue what they're getting for these units in the UK, but they do sell a version that most definitely can be configured as Truck/Bus/Taxi/etcetcetc. These are actually purpose built Android tablets with amazing screens and very flexible configurabiity. Quite possibly on its way to being one of the nicest TomTom units I've ever had the pleasure to play with. If you can get a price, even if the sticker shock is ugly, please let us know what you found out. If the price I found here http://www.globalgps.co.uk/item-89707-tomtom-bridge-eu is any indication, it may be prohibitive.

As I used Viber to make the call and spoke to a very helpful 'live body' here is the telephone number as the answers to your questions would be better methinks directly to yourself 0044 2079 490 134.

Having said that the 'Bridge' Model is not distributed in the UK officially, so how the company in the South of England is selling them is a question as TomTom offer no support for models not sold in that country.
The company (Global GPS) that are offering them are just a retailer offering all sorts of GPS models from different manufacturers and are advertising the Bridge as a 'Business Model' for Truck/Bus use as it has a 7inch screen, which is rather large for a normal Car windscreen.
It seems that there are 3 Models of the 'Bridge' and all of them are extremely expensive when compared to other models that do exactly the same thing, however Global GPS offer no information on their features which makes me suspicious to the point where they don't know what they are selling.

I also would be absolutely nuts to pay even the Sale Price of £474 (US $711) for a Bridge with NO Accessories or Lifetime Maps, when I could get from a retailer but not from the TomTom Shop as they have discontinued it so no longer stock it, a Pro Truck 2150 for 35% less with Accessories & Lifetime Maps for Europe!
