TomTom Model(s)
Tomtom GO for Android
Tomtom representatives have told cnet Australia that widgets are supported by the GO 1000 platform, and will be available in 2011.

This appears to be the 3rd party customization/app store capability that was promised for the platform.

To be clear, TomTom has only indicated that additional functionality will come sometime in 2011. That would include widget support, tho not necessarily widget offers. A lot can change over the next 15 months so I wouldn't put much weight on future possibilities if buying today. Their follow-thru action isn't nearly as predictable as another press release from them today.

To be honest I would think the 1050 is simply a typo and they really mean 1005, looks like the number are all correct just the displayed order of the characters is wrong:

1000 = 4" screen
1005 = 5" screen

1050 = never heard of it (could be all new though)

I hope one of the "Widgets" is for Custom POI support although why such basic functionality needs re-branding is beyond me - Mike

It's the fact that it includes Aus, NZ, NA and much of Europe on one unit that leads me to think it is NOT a 1005, Mike.

Something like the 540 World Traveller Edition available to North Americans or the 930 (and 950?) that had maps of more than 1 continent.

OTOH, you may be correct and I'm reading more into it than really exists............

1005 with 8GB of memory would easily hold that little lot of mapping and there was such a device going through FCC as I recall - Mike
