Factory reset

I'm giving my Tomtom Xl to my nephew and I was wondering if I need to reset it and if this will get rid of all the map updates that I have installed. I don't want to change my email for my account as ive just bought a VIA 135 that I will be registering. Is there anyway I can deregister it?

Thanks for the reply. My nephew wants to sell it so would a factory reset take it off my account? Would whoever bought it be able to register it or would it still be registered to me?

It does not have to be a real eMail address, a fictitious one for the old device eMail address is sufficient.
Use something like "(e-mail address removed)" and a password like "newuser".

With that the new owner can log in and then change username and password to her/his liking.

Works well, I have successfully used false data like this a couple of times whn selling TTs.
