TomTom to stop making standalone GPS units?

This was on the Fox News (Sky News in UK) website, that they were going to end standalone navigation units, and concentrate instead on built-in systems for cars and apps for smartphones.

Yes, focus will be on built-in systems; NO, it does not say the pnd market is being abandoned.

Yup. 'Fraid Kim needs to stick to PCs where she excels. TomTom isn't calling it quits on the PND yet per their releases - but they do see the handwriting on the wall and I wish them luck garnering a better in-dash market share.

It would certainly be nice to see more 'brand name' GPS systems being used in in-dash systems instead of some of the JTG (Joe's Taiwanese Garage shop) stuff many of the automotive manufacturers and aftermarket outfits are selling.
