What is the procedure for generating a large POI category that could contain thousands of POIs? I have POIedit, but don’t understand how to ‘scoop up’ lots of POI coordinates at a time. Is there a way to do this using Google Maps or a similar site?

POIedit can generate plenty of POIs but not 100% accurate.
The best method is to contact the company and ask for a listing of their locations in a spreadsheet. Finally, converting the addresses into gps coordinates using geocode websites.

You can add pois (built in) using Mapshare.

I have a list of all all global locations current as of Dec09. Anyone willing to convert to an ov2 file. I haven't had any luck with poiedit or any of the other tools.
